An exclusive hospital located in the premium residential area of Bintaro, we helped build Rumah Sakit Premier Bintaro’s suite and premier rooms as the VIP inpatient facility, beauty center that is repurposed from an expatriate health center, and orthosports center for recovery, fitness monitoring, and training area. We focus on seamless materials and fresh colors as the impression for this building. The comfort and focus of consulting patients are aimed through using seamless materials, as fresh colors resonate a motivating nuance for patients going through recovery therapy. The orthosport is located on the fourth floor of the hospital, with areas including a waiting lounge for patients in line for consultation, assessment room, cashier, and consultation room. The facility also includes a gymnasium and locker rooms where training, monitoring, and recovery sessions are held. Meeting rooms for the medical professionals are also installed in the orthosport area. This project demands a high amount of attention to details, especially in material placement and measurements. Furthermore, being a healthcare center makes sanitary at the top of priority throughout the building process. We exercised diligence and constant double checks for every miniscule part of the projects; redoing and perfecting every result.

Building hospital facilities puts cleanliness and sanitation at the top of priority in every small detail that we did. We focused on preventing the presence of gaps and corners that can cause dust or dirt buildup. Fabric materials are also exchanged with less absorbent alternatives to ensure ease in cleaning and maintenance. All of the process and material selection needs to pass the basic standard of healthcare facility, an additional step in every decision making process. Starting out with the VIP rooms, the first facility that was to be built took around 2 weeks of work for one room. This part was rather repetitive and used a templated build approach with minimal adjustment of measurement especially cupboards and panels. The beauty clinic that we built was renovated from an expat health center. It was designed using a pink and bright colored facade with a straightforward layout of front office, simple shed, and consultation as well as treatment room. The orthosports center was the largest covering area of the facility that we built. This center was built to accommodate the needs for physiotherapy, athlete fitness monitoring, and checkups. This consists of checkup rooms, doctor rooms, gym, and meeting rooms. Being our first project for a healthcare facility we met several materials to build and play with for the first time. The gym area flooring uses a rubber tile for the safety and comfort of physical activities involving heavy training tools. We used a customized rubber tile to achieve the intended design. Furthermore to ensure the ease of cleaning for the flooring we use a customized vinyl roll that is formed and cut into the designed pattern.

This project involves an extensive consideration into details and standards of material in every step that we take. Double; even triple checking every small corner to ensure absence of potential health hazard is a habit we had to pick up quickly. Furthermore the use of rubber tile for the orthosport center uses a specific color in the design; a color that is not usually available in the material market. We had to do custom production for this part, which led to repeated search for suitable vendors and several additional adjustments such as mismeasurement for the dimension and density to ensure safety of use. Making sure that the intended design is built without sacrificing the utility standard of a hospital is an intriguing process such as the several steps needed to build the floor from vinyl roll that is needed for the sanitary standard of hospital floor. We cut vinyl rolls into the intended design pattern and arrange different colors of the material. Attaching every piece uses a special step to melt and merge the vinyl rolls. We also compromised our intention to build sliding doors for a regular one as hospitals have a specific width of doors for nursing beds to pass, something that cannot be fit in a sliding doors system. The small accessories and basic building utilities such as the lamps, electrical, emergency sprinkler etc were also parts that needed attention regarding building standards and design. We learned various new approaches and standards in this project that we proudly present an end-result to.
