Born from the nostalgic longing for youthful night time fun, Opiuci is a Bar that opened in the right place and right time. The site previously operated for a similar use of Bar, reborn with the twist of well design and repurposing as a place for people to enjoy a night out and freely be themselves. The location is merged with a coffee shop under the same management that is open from the morning to afternoon followed by the bar’s operation from then on. However this journey is made sustained through the right momentum of the bar’s opening. It was a transition period from the pandemic to the new normal era. The founder’s nostalgic vision that aligned with the public’s yearn for physical interaction became a fortunate factor for Opiuci’s birth. This Bar consists of two floors, with the first floor divided into an indoor and outdoor area that is seamlessly separated. The First floor consists of DJ Booths, Bar, and seating areas whereas the second floor is a VIP area. With the right vision and dreamful potential we exercised passion and excellence in this project. We treated it as a passing examination for our expertise in design and build.
The existing shape of the bar had a clear separation between its indoor and outdoor seating area. From the subtle and introverted nature of the previous space, we aim to rebuild it into an open and free space for a popular melting pot of the city. We decided to build a dome-like ceiling that covers the whole outdoor seating area. It ends up in a semi outdoor space with an open air feeling with protection from the rain; ensuring sheltered and safe activity at all times. The magic; however lies in the seamless transition from the indoor to the outdoor area. Contrast between the dance floor that is located in the indoor area and more seating area focused on the outdoor area is bridged comfortably by this thin line that separates the two. The interior focuses on a rustic and mediterranean concept that the building process focuses on research, trial, and error of wall texturing, decorative accents, and variations of flooring patterns. Furthermore, sound system arrangement becomes the central point in our planning and building process that every decision should consider the acoustic technicality. The main vocal point of the indoor area is the large stained glass window that demands additional structure to prevent it from being damaged by the sound vibration.
This project is a challenge of upscaling and checkpoint tests for our venture as a construction company. We had to retain the existing site from undergoing too much renovation with a completely different spatial direction as the end in mind. Miniscule details and decorations require extensive and in-depth care as we try to deliver maximum spatial experience. Looking back on such a project, the construction process always starts out with constraints, may it be time and monetary accompanied with a high quality standard of target. With the given budget back then, we achieved in terms of delivering an end product that ushers and accommodates the business growth into the scale it is at today. Our pride lies in the actual display of such building quality as well as the capacity and impact that it brings into the client’s business internally as well as the monumental presence it has in the town.
